Vehicle Graphic Wrap Advertising :: Your Secret to Success :: What You Need to Know

This is the million dollar question isn’t it? Vehicle Graphics have been apart of any companies advertising campaign since the invention of the automobile. A simple name, service and phone number along with a fancy embellishment for esthetics was all you needed. Let’s fast forwarding into the 21st century… Here and in the Now we are constantly bombarded with all sorts of advertising streams from television to commercials that pop-up on our cell phones. With electronics as our friends we are always finding ways to stop the insanity with aftermarket filters and spam blockers.

What can be done? Newspapers are going to the wayside as did your record collection. Television commercials can be fast forwarded with our Tivo’s. Radio commercials can be muted, switched or tuned out. You as a consumer are right there with us all, but what about your business? Your competition is getting more inventive with its message while you are still relying on your newspaper ads and yellow page listings that you pay for every month seeing little change to your bottom line. Don’t get me wrong. These are all important avenues but they also need constant revenue to keep them in place and working for you.

What are the big corporations doing about the evolution of advertising to the masses? Well, they hire big ad agencies to sit and discuss this very subject everyday to find inventive ways to get there product, service and brand known, and to get you to buy into it. Millions of dollars go into advertising and case studies to what works and doesn’t work. This leads us back to the question…Does Vehicle Graphics work? I wish it was that easy…the answer is yes and no. Almost everyone has some sort of ad or service advertised on their company rig, but does it stand out? Does it make a statement that is memorable? Can your product or service benefit everyone around you or just “Joe Blow” ten cars back? A well designed vehicle vinyl wrap will pay for itself within months, days or even hours in some cases. After that…it’s all free advertising baby! You won’t have to sign another check to your local sign company to do it all over again like you would television, radio or newspaper spots.

Let’s return to “Joe Blow” that was ten cars back. Vehicle wraps can make thousands upon thousands of impressions everyday. Over time those impressions become multiple impressions…your brand and service become ingrained into your potential buyers minds and eventually even “Joe” will call, because you made an impression on him with the vehicle graphic wrap on your car, van or truck. The big companies know that outdoor advertising is cheap advertising in the sense that it makes so many more impressions over time than any other form of advertising. We are talking about four to eight million impressions a year….WOW! With the average vehicle wrap costing $3000.00, you do the math…figure what you are paying with pay-per-clicks and banner ads. Some companies are paying up to $10.00 a click to make a potential sale with no guarantee the sale will go through.

Let’s invest that same $3000 in a postcard mailer campaign…with ever-rising postal charges and printing lets even be liberal with the fees. Let’s say your cost per mailed piece is $.75 so you mail 4000 postcards with a liberal return of 7%. That’s 280 potential buyers interested in your product or service. With your $3000 dollar advertising investment you made 4000 impressions at .75 each with 7% return. That’s it! Campaigns over…get you checkbook out to do it all over again. This form of advertising is what I like to call perishable advertising. What I mean by perishable advertising is just that…it can be muted, switched, changed and thrown away. Not vehicle wraps and graphics!

The average vinyl wrap will last three to five years depending on your location. Most companies change their advertising campaigns more often then that, so longevity is usually not the issue. The vinyl wrap concept has been around for several years and has made allot of advancements along the way which has intern made it more appealing for smaller companies to follow the foot step of it’s larger competitors. It seems like allot when you are signing you name on that $3000.00 check, but really the advertising advantages over time can not be ignored or be over-looked. You are making constant, consistent contacts everywhere you go, letting potential prospects know you mean business with advertising dollars that paid for itself months ago.

So as you can see vehicle graphics as a form of advertising has been around for a very long time and for very good reasons. I see it staying for well into the future…or at least til the invention of the transporter. Vehicle graphics and vinyl wraps has my vote. I say go for it… “Advertise your drive…”
